I built this as a part of a demo for a panel at Katsucon.  It was made by rummaging through my spare parts box.

Star Wars Legion: AT-ST

A wonderful model to build and paint.

This is the Imperial "Occupier" from Rogue One.  Imperial Terrain offers this model.  It is 3D printed.  It offered some challenges as far as painting goes due to the print lines and the details of the kit.  That being said, it is a wonderful model, and with a little imagination can be painted up very nicely.

My approach to the print lines was to simply leave them.  They reminded me of the zimmerit the Germans placed on their tanks in WWII.  This coating prevented magnetic mines from being placed on the tank.  This made sense, since the Empire was under constant attack from the Rebels on Jedha.

So here is the finished Occupier.  The side guns are magnetized and can be moved during gameplay or removed and stored for transportation.

The driver and commander were purchased from Skull Forge Studios.

Star Wars Legion !!

I was beyond excited when I heard about this game coming out.  Now that is out, it is occupying a major part of my hobby time.  The first thing I started to build was terrain.  I began with Tatooine/Jakku houses.  I will post more photos soon.

Well I am back.  I have been working on a lot of projects, just not posting much.  That is all going to change.  I am going to try and update the blog with some current projects as well as a few that have finished.  Stay Tuned!

Hobbits!!

I have been waiting patiently to get through some backlog and commissions to start painting my hobbits.  I have finished the last of my commissions for the foreseeable future, so I splurged and painted two test models. I am looking forward to starting the rest and building a few more Hobbit holes.

Troll Drummer

This is from the plastic Troll kit.  I think it is one of the best kits GW has put out, simply because if the combinations that can be made.  I used a sponge to paint the majority of the skin pattern, building up colors with subtle changes to the mix.  I like how it turned out, and will be using this method in the future for my Mordor trolls.

Sam & Frodo in Orc Armor

Probably two of my most favorite miniatures in the range.  At first I was tossing these two into the backlog I may never get to pile, but took a chance on painting them.  I was very happy with the detail sculpted into the miniature, and although it is a limited color palette, I think it works very well with these two.

I painted these up for a Secret Santa event.  I believe these miniatures are from West End Games around the 90's.

Forge World Amon Sul (Weathertop)

This was a promotional piece made by Games Workshop (Forgeworld) to promote the Lord of the Rings miniature game.  I was lucky to find one for sale.  I cleaned it up, primed it and then using many layers and shades of browns and greys, painted it up.

Leading Edge: ALIENS

Painting these up for a client.  I have the entire USCM squad to paint.  This is an extra that I used as a paint sample.  I am going to make some changes on the colors, and try not to make the cammo pattern so busy.

Island of Blood High Elf Griffon

I bought this boxed set when it was released and lucked out.  A fellow customer was buying the set for the Skaven.  I had no need for them.  He had no need for the High Elves.  We parted each set out.  Very luck day.  I have since sold off most of the Elves knowing I will never get to paint them.  I did keep this one.

So far I have cut the Elf Lord out, for ease of painting.  This Griffon is about 99% done.  I just have to pick out some more details.

LOTR Drummer Troll

Ok I have been working on this figure for some time now.  I decided to try a new way of painting using multiple washes and small sponges to get the skin tones I desired.  I am somewhat happy with the results to far.  Still a lot to do on this one, but it is slowly progressing.

EAGLES!

First up...we have the Great Eagles from the BOFA set from Games Workshop.  I did not use the mounts they supplied.  I made mine from brass wire, as I wanted them to sit higher up.  One of the eagles was not molded properly, so I am working on fixing that one.
